not-so-recipe-recipe

This was an entry for an Adobe InDesign contest called Creative Cookbook held via Twitter and Instagram by Lauren Hom and Christine Herrin. The goal was to use their InDesign template or create your own to share a holiday recipe. For my entry, I chose to use their template and accent it with graphics familiar to Lao culture. I titled it "Not-So-Recipe-Recipe" because that's how I usually cook: freehand, with no exact measurements or steps! Whenever I am reading a recipe on a food blog, I love hearing the backstories of what inspired the dish or what random moment in time it reminds the creator of, so I decided to include one in my recipe card as well. Food can remind us of the low points in life like eating pints of ice cream when we want to fill our sadness, or the high points and happy times like sitting under the sun having a picnic with loved ones. I hope this inspires you to think about the memories that certain foods have brought you :)
